Unbelievable! Yet another month has come and gone in the life of the KawaiiPunk blog! And what incredible month it was! A month in which we saw a cute tennis ball, a gravely Gargoyle Mascot, and even a Puzzle Mascot puzzle cube! And let’s not forget the amazing crafters and designers we met along the way… Red & Main, Oborocharms, and Doodle Garage to name a few! And what about our musical monthly puzzle? Did you find the New Wave Mascot’s favourite eight bands?

Did you find the New Wave Mascot’s favourite eight bands?
Amazing! They were Talking Heads, Blondie, The B52s, Sparks, Devo, XTC, Pere Ubu, and The Vapors! I guess that guy really likes his music, huh? Anyway, that’s all your cute goodies for this month, folks, but be sure to come back next month when we’ll have plenty more tasty kawaii treats for you all to enjoy! The Amazing Puzzle Cube!

Readers' Emails

Dear Puzzle Mascot,

I’m not usually one for ripping off other people’s ideas, but after reading the email the Stereo Mascot received last month (Re. Personal Stereo Perfection!) I felt I couldn’t resist. And anyway, don’t they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Of course they do! So I’ve decided to create for you a modern twist on an old classic, much like your other reader did for the Stereo Mascot last month! And here it is…

It's a Puzzle Mascot puzzle cube!
Incredible, isn’t it? Yes, to celebrate your love of all things puzzling I’ve created for you your very own personalised Rubik’s cube! As you can see I have done this by replacing the standard coloured faces of the cube with pictures of your own sweet self! And I reckon it works a treat! Although obviously, it doesn’t literally work a treat, as it is only a mock up! But I’m sure you get my point! Enjoy!

Yours puzzlingly,
Jester K Lamberton

Puzzle Mascot replies...

Wow! Thanks Jester! That looks absolutely amazing! In fact, I may even have a go at creating my very own working prototype! If I can remember where I put my glue stick that is!

Keep on puzzling,
Puzzle Mascot :)

Sounds Search! New Wave Mascot!

written by Puzzle Mascot

Great news folks, it’s puzzle time! And this month I’ve got an absolute corker for you to wrap your big old brains around! It’s a puzzle the likes of which you’ll never have seen before! I call it… the word search! Huh? What do you mean you’ve already heard of word searches? They’ve been around for ages, you say! Wow! Who’d of thought it? Oh well, too late to come up with another puzzle now! Let’s have a look at it anyway…

Can you find the eight new wave bands?
Fantastic, isn’t it? As you can see this particular word search has been made in honour of my friend and colleague the New Wave Mascot, and in it are hidden eight of the New Wave Mascot’s favourite bands! But wait, I hear you say, how am I supposed to know what bands the New Wave Mascot likes? Well, here’s a clue: he’s called the New Wave Mascot - what sort of bands do you think he’s going to like? Honestly, sometimes I think I make these puzzles too easy for you :) Find out if you found all eight bands when the answer is revealed in this month’s monthly round-up!

Happy searching,
Puzzle Mascot :)

Gravelly Gargoyle!

Readers' Art

Dear Gargoyle Mascot,

I noticed earlier this month that one of your readers sent in an artwork to honour the Daredevil Mascot. (Re. Drawing the Daredevil!) A good idea, especially as the aforementioned mascot is rarely given a chance to shine on this blog. Which brings me quite nicely, even if I do say so myself, to the point of my email - that being that you too rarely appear on this blog. And so…

It's a gravelly Gargoyle Mascot!
Yes, you’ve guessed it, in a gesture to address this imbalance I have created an artwork especially for you. It’s a picture of yourself made from gravel - a very fitting medium for such a stone faced fellow as yourself! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this gravelly artwork, and I also hope to hear a lot more from you in the future. Although, I have to admit, I’m not entirely sure what a Gargoyle could write about for a kawaii blog! Is there such a thing as cute medieval architecture?

Yours thoughtfully,
Belinda Wilkins. Aged 24.

Gargoyle Mascot replies...

Thanks Belinda! It’s always nice to be noticed - which doesn’t always happen much to us gargoyles! And yes, there is such a thing as cute medieval architecture. After all, where do you think I came from :)

Thanks again,
Gargoyle Mascot :)

Sweet Styles from Imaginary Story

written by Junior Mascot

When it comes to style I‘ve always been a big fan of simplicity. To me there’s nothing better than clean, clear, and crisp design! And, I’m more than happy to report, I am by no means the only person that thinks this. Today I’m going to introduce you all to a shop that has simplistically stylish designs at its heart. The shop is called Imaginary Story, and it looks a little something like this…

Imaginary Story at RedBubble
Fantastic! Imaginary Story is a RedBubble shop that sells stylishly simple clothing, prints, cards, and stickers. Among the adorable designs available are pandas, owls, squirrels, koala bears, and pigs. And that’s just the start! So if you’re looking to pick up a cute t-shirt or gift, why not give this sensational shop a go. You simply can’t go wrong!

Simply yours,
Junior Mascot :)

Red Card for Ed!

Readers' Emails

Dear Ed Mascot,

I’m writing to you today in response to your recent post about the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany. (Re. Keeping a Sporting Promise!) A post that you specifically wrote with one reader in mind - me! Vanessa Thompson! Could this be a letter of thanks, you’re probably asking yourself about now! Or perhaps I’m going to congratulate you on your thoughtfulness! Well… maybe if you’d read my previous email properly (Re. Football Mad!), you’d be in a better position to guess…

It's a burst football!
Get the picture, Ed? It’s a burst football! A useless burst football! An utterly useless burst football! Am I making myself clear, Ed? Have you any idea at all as to what my point could be? Have you even the slightest inkling as to why I would send you a picture of a burst football? Think about it, Ed? A burst football! What on earth could I possibly be trying to tell you?

Yours despairingly,
Vanessa Thompson

Ed Mascot replies...

Don’t worry Vanessa, I hear you loud and clear! And what’s more, I completely agree with you 100% - the coverage of the 2011 Women’s World Cup has indeed been shocking by its absence! If you ask me, the national broadcasters should be hanging their heads in shame! And what better way to sum up this outrageous state of affairs than with a picture of a burst football! Vanessa, you’re an inspiration to football fans everywhere!

Your fellow football fanatic,
Ed Mascot :)

Doodletastic Doodle Garage!

written by Monster Mascot

Aaaarrrgh! Sorry readers, didn’t mean to scare you there! But then again, what did you expect? I am the Monster Mascot after all! And, conveniently for you lot, it’s my love of all things monstrous that’s brought me here today! Because today I’m going to introduce you all to an artist and illustrator whose love of monsters is almost as big as my own! Her name is Elise Gravel, and her utterly amazing shop is called Doodle Garage…

Doodle Garage at Zazzle
Marvellous, isn’t it? Doodle Garage is a Zazzle shop that sells clothing and skateboards - all of which are adorned with the magnificently monstrous illustrations of the incredibly talented Elise Gravel. And even better still, for those of you readers with a nervous disposition that is, it turns out Elise’s creature creations are not just monstrous, they’re also incredibly cute too! Everyone’s a winner!

Your cute and creepy colleague,
Monster Mascot :)

Drawing the Daredevil!

Readers' Art

Dear Daredevil Mascot,

I’ve been reading this blog for a while a now and couldn’t help but notice your lack of input therein! In fact, I think I’m right in saying, you haven’t once contributed anything to this blog whatsoever! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about this! I’m sure you’re far too busy with your feats of daring to find time to write a blog - something I wholeheartedly support! After all, life should be lived, not read about! And so, I created this…

It's the incredible Daredevil Mascot!
Yes, it’s a drawing of you celebrating your daredevil lifestyle! I decided to draw you as a human cannonball - a daredevil classic, if ever there was one! I think it captures your daring attitude perfectly! And, most importantly, it should also serve as an inspiration to iKids everywhere who think life is lived through a touchscreen! After all, how can you possibly enjoy your childhood if you don’t go out and break a couple of bones every now and again! It never did me any harm!

Yours daringly,
Frankie “The Fracture” Finkleton. Aged 57.

Daredevil Mascot replies...

Wise words, Frankie! Life is indeed for living! And what better way to live it than to have yourself propelled through the air by an oversized cannon! Great stuff! And a great drawing too!

Thumbs up for Frankie,
Daredevil Mascot :)

Kawaiification! New Balls Please!

Readers' Emails

Dear Sir/Madam,

You may remember in my last email to you (Re. Kawaiification! Spring Surprise!) I wished you and your wonderful readers a sun filled summer. And I sincerely meant it! Unfortunately, however, it seems that this wish has been wholly ignored! Bad news for sun fans, and bad news for kawaiifiers like myself too! Usually at this time of year I like to be out and about kawaiifying all and sundry in the open air, but not this year! No, this year I’ve been stuck indoors listening to the rain fall and watching TV. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t had a chance to bang on with my favourite hobby…

It's a kawaiified tennis ball!
Yes, that’s right, it’s a kawaiified tennis ball! I got the idea for it while watching the recent Wimbledon tennis tournament. And, given the diabolical ‘summer’ weather we’ve been having lately, decided to model it on tennis legend John McEnroe! After all, anyone who thinks endless clouds and rain fall is fitting weather for this time of year, surely cannot be serious! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this latest work of kawaiification, and I also hope we eventually get some much needed sunshine! Fingers crossed!

Yours sincerely,
Mr. Justice Smithering Smythe (retired)

Ed Mascot replies...

Incredible! Another work of sheer genius, your honour! Not to mention a spot on comment on the miserable summer we’ve been having! If only we had a Sunshine Mascot to brighten things up for all of us!

Keep those creations coming,
Ed Mascot :)

Cute Critters at Red & Main

written by Minotaur Mascot

There are a lot of advantages to being a mythical monster. Commanding fear and respect, enjoying legendary status, never having to fork out for a Halloween costume, etc. But, as a mythical monster who writes for a kawaii blog, there are also disadvantages too. After all, it’s not as if monsters and kawaii go hand in hand, do they? Or do they? Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I’d like you all to meet Red & Main…

Red & Main at Etsy
Yes, that’s right folks, I’ve only gone and found a cute and crafty monster shop for you all to enjoy! And what a shop it is! Red & Main is an Etsy shop that sells incredibly cute handmade monsters, critters, and mythical beasts! So the next time you’re looking for a super cute Bigfoot or an adorably yummy Yeti, you’ll know where to go, won’t you? And you can even pick up some pretty pottery while you’re there! How cool is that?

Your mythical maestro,
Minotaur Mascot :)
