Monthly Round-up. August 2010

written by Ed Mascot

Wow! There goes August folks! And what a kawaii packed month it was! A month in which we got to see some amazing KawaiiPunk paper toys, and even got to see a Puzzle Mascot jigsaw puzzle! And along the way we got to meet Holly Brooke Jones, Tabu Japan, and Messy Pink, to name a few! And let’s not forget our monthly puzzle! Did you work out who sent TV the DVD?

Did you work out who sent TV the DVD?
Incredible! It was the Stereo Mascot who sent the DVD! I’d always thought he was more of a CD man myself! Oh well... I guess we can’t be right all of the time! Anyway, be sure to come back next month folks, when we’ll have plenty more kawaii treats for you all to enjoy. And we’ll even have another puzzle for you too! And you wouldn’t want to miss that, would you?

See you all in September.
Your host with the most,
Ed Mascot :)

Just Passing Through!

Readers' Art

Dear Puzzle Mascot,

I’ve been an avid reader of this blog for some time now. The actual time I refer to is about 30 seconds, but I’m guessing you probably don’t want to hear that! Anyway, while desperately trying to navigate away form this blog I noticed you had a section called Readers’ Art. And, having already regrettably put myself in the “Readers’” category, I decided I might as well go the whole hog and join the “Art” bit too! So here goes…

Puzzle Mascot Jigsaw Puzzle!
It’s a picture of yourself in the style of a jigsaw puzzle. I got the idea for it while looking at your head - which is shaped like a jigsaw puzzle piece! Although I’m sure you already know that! Anyway, I hope you like it and all that stuff. And I also hope you could direct me to another website (perhaps something about the history of the internet?), as I think I’ve been an avid reader of this blog for 30 seconds longer than I’d care to be!

Yours etc.
Benjamin K Winters. Aged 66.

Puzzle Mascot replies...

Thanks Benjamin - it’s nice to see what I’d look like as a jigsaw puzzle, as I have often wondered :) And with regards to your request, why not pay a visit to the home of the worlds first ever website and server… info.cern.ch

Always happy to help a passer by,
Puzzle Mascot :)

Shiro the Hero!

written by Adorable Mascot

Hey readers, are you ready to have your hungry kawaii bellies filled with a whole heap of cuteness? Of course you are! I mean, why else would you be here, right? Anyway, today I’m going to introduce you all to an artist who has created some of the cutest looking creatures I’ve ever seen. And believe me, I’ve seen a lot of cute creatures :) They go by the name of Shiro, and their work looks something like this…

Shiro at RedBubble
See? I told you Shiro had cute creatures! And what a variety too! Dogs, cats, bunnies, birdies, mice, jellyfish, bears, tigers, lions, elephants, monkeys, even hedgehogs! It’s like taking a trip to the cutest zoo ever! And the best part is… by picking up a t-shirt, card, or print, you get to take your very own cute creature home with you! Have fun!

Keeping creatures cute,
Adorable Mascot :)

Second Notice

Readers' Emails

Greetings Money Mascot,

I understand that through Internet is not the best way to link up with you because of the confidentiality which my proposal demands. However, I have already sent you this same letter one month ago, but I am not sure if it did get to you since I have not heard from you, hence I am constrain to reach you through the Internet which has been abused over the years. I wish to notify you again that you were listed as a Heir to the total sum of (Three Million Six Hundred Thousand British Pounds) in the codicil and last testament of the deceased. (Name now withheld since this is our second letter to you). We contacted you because you bear the surname identity and therefore can present you as the Heir to the inheritance funds.

Another offer too good to be true?
Please indicate your interest immediately for us to proceed. I shall feed you with full details of this transaction upon receipt of your reply towards this proposal. All the legal papers will be processed in your acceptance. In your acceptance of this deal, we request that you kindly forward to us your letter of acceptance; your current telephone and fax numbers and a forwarding address to enable us file necessary documents at our high court probate division for the release of this sum of money.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Mr. Anthony Martin Esq.

Money Mascot replies...

Sure thing, Anthony, I’ll get right on it! In fact… maybe I could just fire off my bank account details while I’m at it! Or would you prefer a blank cheque? Perhaps an envelope stuffed with cash would be easier for you… etc. etc. etc.

Money Mascot :)

Telly Trouble! TV Mascot!

written by Puzzle Mascot

Great news readers! It’s puzzle time! Hurrah! And what a puzzle I’ve got for you this month! It’s got thrills! It’s got spills! It’s got… other stuff as well! And it’s even got a malfunctioning television set too! Confused? You’re not the only one! The TV Mascot doesn’t know what’s going on either! Here, have a look…

Can you work out who sent the DVD?
Hmmm! It looks like our old friend the TV Mascot has been sent a DVD message from one of his colleagues - don’t ask why, just go with it! But unfortunately his television set is acting up and he can’t work out who sent him the message! Oh the irony! Looks like a touch of retuning is in order. But the question is… can you work out which mascot sent TV the DVD message? The answer, as ever, will be revealed in this month’s monthly round-up!

Happy tuning folks,
Puzzle Mascot :)

written by Mischief Mascot

If there’s one thing we all enjoy doing, it’s having fun. Well, maybe not the Grumpy Mascot, but… with a name like that, what do you expect? Happy Times with Smile Recipe!

written by Robot Mascot

For most of the mascots here at KawaiiPunk writing about cute comes easy - especially the Cute Mascot! Understandably so, I suppose :) But for me, the Robot Mascot, things are a little bit trickier. You see, having a super computer for a brain does mean I tend to favour groovy gadgets over gorgeous goodies - mobile phones, PDAs, handheld gaming devices, etc, etc, etc. But that doesn’t mean I can’t contribute to this kawaii blog! Have a look at this…

Smile Recipe at Etsy
What you are looking at are just some of the adorable products available from Smile Recipe at Etsy. The Smile Recipe shop specialises in making beautifully cute handmade goodies that put a smile on the face of all that see them. And, as well as stickers and buttons, they also have plenty of super cute gadget cases too! See? I told you I could contribute :)

Making gadgets gorgeous,
Robot Mascot :)

It’s a Paper Box World!

written by Awestruck Mascot

There are many things in life that amaze me. Well, I am the Awestruck Mascot, so I suppose that’s only to be expected :) But the one thing that amazes me above all others is the creativity of other people. Recently I was introduced to one such individual, and today I’d like you to meet them too. They’re called Dré, and their awe inspiring work looks like this…

Free paper toys at Paper Box World!
Pretty cool, isn’t it? Dré runs a website called Paper Box World where people can download and make amazing paper toys - and all for free too! Among the astounding papercraft collection, of which there are currently over 30 different models, you’ll find chickens, cats, rabbits, race cars, hot rods, fire trucks, and many, many more besides! In fact, there’s even a piece called The Toilet Team! And believe me, if that one doesn’t leave you awestruck, I don’t know what will!

Happy cutting and pasting,
Awestruck Mascot :)

Sweet Creatures from Sweet Carolyn’s

written by Queasy Mascot

As we all know there are many cute animals in the world. In fact, I’m sure you could name scores of them right now… bunnies, kittens, puppies, birdies, etc. But unfortunately there seems to be one group of animals that are consistently overlooked in the world of cute. I speak of course of our sea dwelling friends. Well, thanks to the work of a very talented crafter at Etsy, that’s all about to change. Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on this…

Sweet Carolyns at Etsy
Ta da! What you are looking at is the incredibly cute work of Sweet Carolyn’s. Packed with beautiful amigurumi creatures and clay characters, Sweet Carolyn’s is just the place to go if you’re looking for a fishy friend to keep you company. And the best part is, you won’t even have to get your feet wet! Which, if you’re anything like me, is a very good thing indeed. After all, as the Queasy Mascot, I’m not exactly known for my sea legs!

Keeping characters cute,
Queasy Mascot :)

Horoscopes for August 2010

written by Mystic Mascot

Ahhhh… the mists clear and the spirits return. But what do they have in store for us this month? Will it be dreams come true, or nightmare made real? There’s only one way to find out. Read on, if you dare…

Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20
A stranger in a hat could potentially ruin an otherwise fun day out. Avoid strangers in hats and you should be OK. Or, alternatively, avoid fun days out for the same result!
Lucky playing card: Seven of Spades

Taurus Apr 21 - May 21
While it’s true that a fine wine can get better with age, the same cannot be said of all drinks. Remember this when attending that party!
Lucky playing card: Queen of Hearts

Gemini May 22 - Jun 22
A trip to the cinema could be ruined by a popcorn munching buffoon. Buying some soft centred sweets should help you avoid this - you know what I’m talking about :)
Lucky playing card: Three of Diamonds

Cancer Jun 23 - Jul 23
Saving money in this current financial climate is a good idea. Doing it by not buying your partner a birthday present isn’t. Just giving you a heads up!
Lucky playing card: Ten of Clubs

Leo Jul 24 - Aug 23
Avoiding reading anything written in a blog is the key to your happiness this month. Woops! Probably should have told you that last month!
Lucky playing card: Four of Hearts

Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23
Paperclips are good at holding paper together, but are no substitute for mortar where bricks are concerned. Remember this when doing that spot of DIY!
Lucky playing card: Jack of Spades

Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23
A chance encounter with a vibrating chair salesman has the potential to leave you shaken and nauseous! Just letting you know!
Lucky playing card: King of Diamonds

Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22
Food will play an important part in your life this month, so be sure to remember to eat some! I’d suggest at least three times a day!
Lucky playing card: Two of Clubs

Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21
A shopping trip has the potential to end in embarrassment and financial ruin this month. Remember: Magic beans only exist in fairy tales!
Lucky playing card: Seven of Hearts

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20
Your inability to speak French may very well lead to a temporary moment of petty annoyance this month. Still… c’est la vie!
Lucky playing card: Three of Clubs

Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19
Variety is the spice of life is a saying, not a cooking tip! Remember this to avoid an embarrassing supermarket incident!
Lucky playing card: Eight of Diamonds

Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20
Congratulations are in order this month, though sadly not for you! Remember to act graciously in defeat, and you should be OK!
Lucky playing card: Ace of Spades

Ahhhh… the mists return, and the spirits depart once more. But did they bring you sweet dreams, or was it restless nights? I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Until our paths next cross,
Mystic Mascot :)
